Clarification Regarding Screening Mammography Referrals
Recent media reports have suggested that women no longer need a referral for screening mammography. We would like to clarify that this information is not entirely accurate.
Referrals for screening mammography examinations are still required and have not been abolished. The standard procedure remains attending the examination with a referral from a registered general practitioner or gynecologist.
What has changed is the option available to women who do not have a registered physician or who, for various reasons, do not regularly visit one. As of July 1, 2026, these women may newly book a screening mammography examination without a referral. The aim of this change is to ensure that preventive screening is accessible to all women.
If you have a registered physician, the standard procedure remains unchanged. If you do not have a registered physician, you may contact a screening center directly to arrange an appointment; however, all other conditions required for the examination must still be met.

A woman or a man can come to us for an examination with an application form from the doctor at suspected osteoporosis or those who are already with osteoporosis cures. They can find us in Mamma centrum Opatov, ul. Líbalova 2348/1, Prague 11 - Chodov. For this examination we have a contract with health insurance companies - OZP, ČPZP, ZPŠ and VoZP. We are negotiating with other health insurance companies and will keep this list up to date. Suitable diagnoses for this examination are e.g. M82.3, M80.9 or M81.9.
Currently we are not part of the Population Osteoporosis Early Detection Programme (Z13.9), but we believe that we will become one in the future.
The examination is also available for women or men, Self-payingwho come in without a request form.
